The Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Centre of British Columbia has provided services in many parts of British Columbia. The Crisis Centre has 3 core programs that use communication to prevent suicides: 1) 24-hour Distress Line, 2) they provide free school-based workshops to youth, & 3) they provide online access to support using the website YouthInBC.com. Statistics show that 35% of YouthInBC.com chats related to suicide compared to 8% of Distress Line calls. The Crisis Centre has recognized that online support is a crucial step in reaching youth. (LC)
