This study shows that overall, Irish adolescents have good mental health & report high levels of general well being. However, the study also identified a substantial number of adolescents with significant mental health problems, including alcohol misuse, symptoms of depression, & anxiety & deliberate self-harm. The findings highlight the need to consult with & involve young people in the planning, development & implementation of mental health promotion programmes & treatment options & facilities for adolescents.
