This article summarizes findings on demographic, distal risk, & proximal risk factors for suicide & reports recent data in death by suicide by Army personnel. The article also offers additional recommendations to reduce the risk of suicide & suicide attempt in the Armed Services & suggests possible directions for future research on suicide in the military.
