Mental Health First aid Training for the Public: Evaluation of Effects on Knowledge, Attitudes and Helping Behavior

This paper describes a Mental Health First Aid training course that was developed in order to improve the mental health literacy of the general public. An evaluation study was conducted looking at changes in knowledge, stigmatizing attitudes, & help provided to others among the first 210 participants in public training courses. The findings indicate that the Mental Health First Aid training is an effective method of improving mental health literacy which can be widely applied. (11 refs)
