The author summarizes a workshop that was conducted using an actual case history (of a dual diagnosis client with a history of abuse & severe family complications) to explore the myriad of issues with which a clinician has to cope when dealing with a suicidal crisis of an ongoing client. The case history was presented along with a discussion of the difficult issues that clinicians have to face when treating this type of client, which are outlined here.
