Youth Suicide and Homicide: What do we Know? What did we Learn? What can we do?

In their final report, the Suicide Homicide Audit Committee (SHAC) presents the findings & recommendations resulting from their 4-year effort to identify the causes of youth suicide & homicide in San Diego County, & develop solutions for its prevention. The characteristics of youth suicide & homicide from 1995 to 1999 are presented, & risk & protective factors identified. Strategies for reducing risk are outlined, & existing prevention programs are reviewed. Suggestions for future initiatives are also provided.
