Senate Joint Resolution 312 requested that the Secretary of Health & Human Resources formulate a comprehensive Suicide Prevention Across the Life Span Plan for the Commonwealth of Virginia. The current document responds to this objective. The epidemiology of suicidal behaviours in Virginia is reviewed along with effective models for prevention. The Plan is detailed according to 3 main areas of interest (leadership development & infrastructure, awareness, & intervention), & 11 key goals are presented.
