Report of the CSM Expert Working Group on the Safety of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor Antidepressants
This is the final report of the Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM) Expert Working Group on the Safety of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor Antidepressants, which was convened to investigate ongoing safety concerns with these medicines. The group’s findings are presented regarding a possible causal association between SSRIs & suicidal behaviour in children, adolescent, young adult, & adult populations. Findings regarding possible withdrawal reactions, dose response, & patient experience are also reviewed. The clinical implications of the findings are discussed, & areas for further research identified.
