As a first step in suicide prevention for young men, this report provides some background findings from previous research on men & mental health. It sets the scene in terms of the suicide problem in Ireland & in the Mid West, & outlines the response to the problem to date. The study methodology & results are then presented before a discussion of the main points. Finally, practical recommendations are made in relation to the prevention of suicidal behaviour among young men. (35 refs)
