This document presents Alabama’s first suicide prevention plan, which localizes & builds upon the fifteen points raised in the U.S. Surgeon General’s Report, “The Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Prevent Suicide 1999.” The 3 overall goals addressed in the plan are: (1) to recognize suicide as a problem affecting Alabama; (2) to outline a strategy for the prevention of suicide in Alabama; & (3) to identify federal, state, & local resources to support the implementation of Alabama’s Suicide Prevention Plan.
