Abstract
Mortality Among Young Immigrants to California: Injury Compared to Disease Deaths
Sorenson S B~~Shen H
The authors investigated adolescent & young adult immigrants’ risk of death due to disease & injury. They found that immigrants are represented appropriately in unintentional injury deaths but underrepresented in suicides & overrepresented in homicides among 1- to 34-year-old California residents. Hispanics appear to account for the foreign- & U.S.-born differences in suicide & homicide. (20 refs)
