This study examined associations between self-reported data on self-image, physical & psychological health & suicidal cognitions, self-injurious behaviour, & suicidal intent in a large representative sample of German high-school students. Results showed that twice as many female adolescents reported suicidal ideation than males, & that girls also tended to have implemented significantly more self-destructive behaviour than boys. Predictors of suicidal ideation & attempt in males & females are also discussed. (29 refs)
