The author reports on the current rate of suicide among the U.S. Marines. He notes that suicide is the second leading cause of death among Marines, & although they are at a lower risk than members of the general populace, Marines have the highest rate of suicide in the Armed Forces. Recent trends in the suicide rates of Marines are reviewed based on data from the Navy’s Suicide Incident Report, & a suicide prevention training kit also developed by the Navy is highlighted.
