The authors sought to compare psychological implications, specifically depression & behavioural manifestations of depression, among female survivors of the suicide of their significant other & female survivors of abuse. They found that the 2 groups did not differ in their overall level of depression; both were moderately to severely depressed. Differences on 3 Beck Depression Inventory items (sadness, irritability, & social withdrawal) were found. Implications for intervention are discussed. (24 refs)
