Roeser R W~~Eccles J S~~Freedman-Doan C
The current study examines patterns of academic functioning & mental health (including suicidality) in 184 middle school children & the relation of such patterns to their prior & subsequent functioning. Data were collected from children during their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th, & 9th grade school years. The authors examined the relation of these patterns to academic functioning & mental health 1 year after the transition to high school, & examined the long-term developmental roots of the 8th grade patterns using data collected during elementary school years.
