This article profiles self-reported substance use, health, & mental health problems (including suicidality), as well as lifetime service utilization, among a sample of incarcerated women in Kentucky. A high percentage of women reported use of alcohol, cocaine & multiple substances during the month before incarceration, as well as mental health problems including depression & anxiety. Implications for criminal justice programs & linkages with community-based aftercare services for women are discussed. (43 refs)
