This article examines misunderstandings that underlie some judgments made about violence (including suicide) in schools: that violence in schools is a recent phenomenon & that guns are the cause of the majority of this violence. The author offers suggestions to educators & parents for developing a realistic protocol to address the twin issues of violence prevention & violence recovery in schools. (1 ref)
