The current study tested the hypothesis that quality of life (QOL) is negatively associated with a history of suicidality in patients with schizophrenia. The authors found that patients who had attempted suicide multiple times were less satisfied with regard to a larger number of life domains than nonattempters & single attempters. Dissatisfaction with QOL in general & with reference to 4 specific domains was associated with repeated suicide attempts. Implications for clinical practice are discussed. (46 refs)
