This article aims to describe psychological factors which help or hinder coping with bereavement in childhood. The authors discuss the timing & appropriateness of interventions from all those working with children &, in particular, for the child mental health & other specialist services in supporting children & families through the process of bereavement. Bereavement in children after a death by suicide is discussed. (75 refs)
