Brownell M~~Friesen D~~Mayer T
The authors examined rates of death & hospitalization from injury in Manitoba children, & the relationship between injury rates & region of residence, premature mortality rate, & income. They found that violence to self was the second leading cause of childhood injury deaths & the third leading cause of injury hospitalizations. They also found a significant correlation between childhood injury & the overall healthiness & socioeconomic well-being of the population. (21 refs)
