In earlier research, a cyclic seasonal variation was found for suicides in England & Wales in the 1960s & 1970s. In the present study, the authors examined the seasonal variation in suicides in England & Wales for the period 1982-1996. They found that the seasonal effect on suicide is greatly diminished, based on the reduced amplitude & smaller proportion of variance accounted for by the season. (17 refs)
