The author reviews the book: “Where Time is Round & Ravens Ride the Wind: a Novel,” by M Berendes, which describes the fictional happenings of an Eskimo community in West Alaska. Many of the social problems of Eskimo communities are prevalent in the book, including alcoholism & suicide. Also notable is Berendes’ description of the average German’s point of view during World War II, which is evoked in the memories of the main character. In conclusion, the present author characterizes the book as “most absorbing,” & advocates for more popular acknowledgement of it.
