The authors determined the impact of different pathways of psycho-pathological development on adult outcome in subjects followed from ages 11-18 to ages 21-28. Problem behaviours were assessed using the Youth Self-Report & the Young Adult Self-Report given at 4 time points. In addition, DSM-IV diagnoses, information pertaining to signs of maladjustment (including suicide attempts) & measures of social functioning were obtained at the last assessment. 4 constrasting developmental pathways were determined.
