The author reviews the book “The Suicidal Patient: Principles of Assessment, Treatment & Case Management,” authored by J A Chiles & K D Strosahl. The book is intended as a guide for managing the suicidal behaviours of clinical patients, which are treated as a learned method of problem solving. While the reviewer notes that the jail population is underrepresented in this work, he nevertheless finds it to be well written, practical, & relevant for all practitioners who may see a suicidal patient in their practice.
