The author responds to an article by J Westefeld & A Less in which they use Sanchez’s (2001) Risk Factors Model for Suicide Assessment & Intervention to consider the question of whether Meriwether Lewis’ death was a suicide. The present author not only finds this method to be questionable for several reasons, but he also argues that a number of the “facts” presented by Westefeld & Less are mere assumptions & postulations, which cannot be used as evidence in this case.
