This paper puts forward the thesis that e-mail contacts at the beginning of a psychodynamic psychotherapy, or during its course, can be interpreted as a transference offer of a virtual object relationship. Casuistic examples of 2 patients are presented, who made their first contact for psychotherapy by e-mail. The meaning of these initial e-mails as a mode of establishing a specific narcissistic transference relationship is examined & the therapeutic implications are discussed. (3 refs)
