This paper examines the quantity & various qualities of life adversities preceding a suicide attempt, with special reference to differences between repeaters & non-repeaters. 47 patients were interviewed by using the Life Events & Difficulties Schedule. Comparing repeaters & non-repeaters, the authors found that repeaters experience a higher number of less serious life events & problems, & their problems & adverse events are to a lesser extent independent of their own behaviour.
