Changes in Patterns of Suicidal Behaviour in Lithuania 1994-1998

The authors conducted an analysis of 1654 attempted suicides by poisoning in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania, during 5 years (1995-1998), & compared the findings with the general trends of suicide mortality in the country. Some new trends in suicidal behavior by men were found, showing a tendency of turning to “non-violent” methods. From 1994 to 1998 the male suicides by violent methods slightly decreased & attempted suicides increased dramatically. (8 refs)
