The authors argue that depression & suicidal behavior are common in adolescent schizophrenia, but suicidal thoughts are even more serious. They suggest that this prevalence of ideation may explain why so many schizophrenic young people take their lives eventually, & that it underscores the need for an evaluation of suicidal thinking even when suicidal behavior & depression do no appear prominent.
