Bagley C~~Bolitho F~~Bertrand L
Adolescent women in grades 7 through 12 in a stratified random sample of Alberta high schools completed measures of emotional problems & suicidal behavior in the past 6 months, & of frequency & type of sexual assault experienced in school. It was found that 23% had experienced at least 1 event of assault; 4% had “often” experienced 1 or more assaults or harrassments. 15% of women experiencing frequent, unwanted sexual touching had “often” made suicidal gestures or attempts in the previous 6 months, compared with 2% of women with no experience of sexual assault.
