This editorial reviews the publication of ÒPractice Guidelines for the Treatment and Assessment of Patients with Suicidal Behaviors,Ó highlighting the importance of these guidelines for international suicide prevention efforts. The author argues that the guidelines are well supported by the research literature, comprehensive in scope, & universal in their application by all professionals working with suicidal persons.
