A psychodynamic conceptual model is used to present the case of a woman suffering from depression, anxiety & dependent character traits, integrating the theories of Margaret Mahler & Donald Winnicott & their contributions to object relations theory. The woman’s depressive symptoms, including prolonged suicidal ideation, & her relationship with her mother, who also had a history of attempted suicide, are discussed. Her treatment according to object relations theory is chronicled. (24 refs)
