Part A of a chapter on risk factors in adolescent suicide, this document, entitled “Risk and Protective Factors, and Warning Signs,” explores the nature & impact of risk & protective factors associated with adolescent suicide. A checklist intended for use by school staff in order to help identify a student who may be at risk for suicidal behavior is presented. Also included is a list of warning signs which may indicate that an adolescent is thinking about suicide. (13 refs)
