This guide identifies & defines the elements of a comprehensive, school-based suicide prevention program. The scientific literature was examined to determine which of these elements have been proven to work in reducing suicide. Checklists & self-assessment instruments are included for schools to evaluate the adequacy of their suicide prevention programs. This document guides administrators through the addition &/or replacement of program elements that would result in more comprehensive programs with proven strategies.
