This report summarizes school health recommendations developed by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention for preventing unintentional injury, violence, & suicide among young persons. The guidelines include recommendations related to the following aspects of school prevention efforts: a social environment that promotes safety; a safe physical environment; health education curricula & instruction; safe physical education, sports, & recreational activities; health, counselling, psychological, & social services for students; appropriate crisis & emergency response; involvement of families & communities; & staff development to promote safety & prevent unintentional injuries, violence & suicide.
