Can Suicide in Young men be Prevented by Improving Access and Delivery Among Primary Care Services?

The author discusses the increasing rate of suicide in the United Kingdom, particularly among young men. Various ways of conceptualizing the problem are reviewed, based on research presented in this journal issue. The role of mental illness & the improvement of care for suicidal patients by improving access, risk assessment & referral, are discussed. (15 refs)
