This paper examines the changes in frequency, distribution & methods of suicide in the past 30 years in Hong Kong, & explores the sociocultural factors behind such changes. Results show that over the past 30 years, suicide rates in adult males & young females decreased, while the rates in adult females remained stable. Suicide by jumping from heights became increasingly common but replaced other methods. Winter had lower suicide rates. (42 refs)
