In response to rising suicide rates, the author sends out a call to all doctors to participate in suicide prevention & intervention. Emotions related to suicide, including depression, grief, fear, shame, & jealousy, are discussed. The relationship between psychiatric disorders & suicide is also explored. The need for doctors to familiarize themselves with the risk factors & warning signs for suicide is emphasized, & their role in detection, prevention, intervention, & overall health enhancement is described.
