The authors comment on a study by G Isacsson et al concerning the use of antidepressants among suicide completers in Sweden. Various author point out several methodological problems with the study, including lack of diagnostic information & knowledge of the dosage used in antidepressant overdoses, failure to address confounding factors, failure to consider alternative explanations for the findings, & the assumption that suicide is almost invariably preceded by depression. The original authors defend their findings.
