The purpose of this study was to explore & describe the concepts of health of young Inuit adolescents from the Canadian Eastern Arctic. 24 young Inuit adolescents were interviewed about characteristics of health, strategies for attaining health, & perceived means of learning about health. Preliminary analysis revealed that these adolescents described health in terms of physicial characterisitics, affective characteristics, physical health activities, & social activities. The adolescents also described coping activities to manage situations that they perceived as problematic for Inuit adolescents. (24 refs)
