This article examines the predictors of complicated grief, depression, & post traumatic stress disorder among adolescents exposed to the suicide of a peer. 146 peers of adolescent suicide victims were interviewed at 6, 12-18, & 36 months following the suicide. The roles of previous psychiatric history, family history of psychiatric disorders, exposure to death, closeness of the relationship with the victim, & stressful life events were explored. Complicated grief shared some risk factors with depression & posttraumatic stress disorder; however, each had their unique predictors. (36 refs)
