This letter comments on L von Knorring’s editorial which refers to an article by M Olfson et al regarding the relationship between antidepressant medication treatment & suicide in adolescents. The current author states his disagreement with the editorial’s impression of an unequivocal, significant relationship & correlation between the use of antidepressants & suicide rate among children & adolescents. Von Knorring responds by citing other studies which lend credence to his conclusion that antidepressant medication treatment appears to be a valid approach to suicide prevention in adolescents.
