The association of suicide & mental disorders has been widely discussed & documented, leaving the key role of the management of mental disorders in the prevention of suicide uncontested. In order to determine whether sufficient knowledge of this issue exists, the authors revisited the available evidence. Here they highlight a few issues critical to future action, including: the limitations of current evidence concerning the relation between suicide and mental disorders, the efficacy of treatment, & the implications for prevention.
