This article presents a standard of care developed by the Florida State University Psychology Clinic to guide therapists through a suicide risk assessment that focuses on key variables related to suicidal behavior. This standard of care outlines necessary components of suicide risk assessment, critical steps to follow to ensure the safety of suicidal patients, treatment recommendations, & guidelines for minimizing the legal risk of the therapist.
