The Integrated Model (IN: The Currents of Lethal Violence: an Integrated Model of Suicide and Homicide, ed. by N P Unnithan et al)
Whitt P
In this chapter, the author specifies an integrated model of self- & other-directed lethal violence that is a modified & updated version of the theoretical perspective developed by Henry & Short (1954). The definition & measurement of 2 synthetic variables, the lethal violence rate & the suicide-homicide ratio are explained, & their connection to the stream analogy is detailed. Finally, a strategy for testing the model across multiple levels of analysis is proposed.
