This chapter discusses the role of firearms in the incidence of suicide in the United States. The statistical associations between firearms & suicide rates are presented. Factors affecting the choice of guns for suicide are explored. Restricting the availability of firearms as a means of reducing the suicide rate is also discussed. (32 refs)
