The authors review the scientific literature on the mental health problems of Canadian Aboriginal peoples. After an overview of technical terminology & general research methods, they address epidemiological statistics on common psychiatric disorders & summarize research issues on alcohol & substance abuse, particularly in relation to other psychiatric disorders. They then consider traditional & contemporary healing practices & address problems in the assessment of helping interventions.
