In order to compare rates of suicidal behavior in people of Caribbean & British Caucasian origin in a large multi-centre sample of patients with psychosis, the authors conducted a secondary analysis of 708 patients with psychosis. People of Caribbean origin were found to have a lower risk of suicidal behavior than British Caucasians, with a strong negative interaction between ethnic group & age: suicidal acts were 4 times less likely in people of Caribbean origin aged over 35 years compared with British Caucasians, but there was no significant difference in those under 35.
