The authors reply to comments made by F Girsh in reference to their earlier article, “Older Women & Mercy Killing,” discussing the danger to women of legalizing aid in dying. They argue that rather than more “help” to die gracefully or more rationalizations for self-sacrifice, women instead need more choices to live & to live well, & more choices to be allowed to die under patient, loving, & unhurried care.
