This article reviews the Washington Citizens for Death with Dignity initiative that was put to public vote in Washington state in 1991. The changes it proposed to the existing state natural death act are reviewed, & the definition of “aid-in-dying” is discussed. Problems & paradoxes with the bill are discussed, & the author expresses approval that the bill ultimately failed. (3 refs)
